Burger King Pizza Burger

A “burger” made with 4 Whopper patties, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce and pesto is coming in September to the New York City BK Whopper Bar in Times Square. Here are several reasons why you shouldn’t eat this.

  1. I love burgers, but even I wouldnt eat this!

  2. Ugh. The only thing that could be worse is if McDonald’s made it. Can you imagine a Big Mac Pizza Burger?

  3. I don’t even need any reasons not to eat it! WOW. Great post.

  4. bmj2k says:

I looked at the picture. That was enough reason not to eat it.

  5. saramosier says:

Wow! That’s terrifying. Reminds me of Japan’s 7-layer Whopper: http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/2009/10/seven-layer-windows-7-whopper-burger-king-japan.html
You should post this horrifying burger-pizza on thisiswhyyourefat.com.

  7. bradenbost says:

How about “don’t eat this BY YOURSELF” or “don’t eat this REGULARLY”?

    • Agreed. Because after a night at the bar with your buddies, that pizza burger is gonna look pretty good. Just sayin.

Honestly, of course it isn’t good for you. Nor is the food at any fast food restaurant. You can even find complaints about the salads. Yet, once in a while I eat at them. Maybe the people that are on the wrong side of this argument should just learn a little word called “moderation”.

Say it with me now….mod-er-a-tion. It’s your friend.

BK and McD’s are fine once in a blue moon. Veggies and fruits are obviously a better choice. Learn the food groups, eat them, love them. Fast food and junk food should be treats, not daily meals. 😉

      • Amen brother and sister. 😛 Looks like a mighty fine burger for sharing. I wouldn’t eat a pizza all by myself either. 😉

      • bradenbost says:

The cut of your jib–I like it.

      • bradenbost says:

And to expand more, because it’s on my mind now, I want to hold aloft the other side of what you’ve said–

I can think of few things in life that are LESS dangerous and LESS contagious than people around me being fat, and of few things LESS of a threat to me than a restaurant that, if I so choose, I only have to see on the side of a road, serving unhealthy food. I’m sick of this war that’s being fought under the guise of “in the interest of everyone!” when in reality it’s “me wanting something to stand for but all the good ones were taken!”

      • eddy says:

buddies?¿ I’m not gonna share my Pizza burger with anyone. It’s just a verry big burger. I like it!

When you eat this you might as well drive yourself to the nearest ER….. Great Post!

  11. lifeofcats says:

dude i wouldnt dream of eating this if it was the last food in the WHOLE UNIVERSE!!!!!!

  12. April says:

Burger King is the only burger establishment that has not taken out their trans fats yet. McDonald’s would actually be better for you (as far as trans fats is concerned), and neither of these corporation’s products will compost. McD’s scrapped their composting program as none of their foods will break down. But millions will buy it as they are still lacking the education and the opportunity to see what good food can actually do for you. And our youth (under 50) don’t realize what happens inside: they only see the outside and they’re alive so what’s the problem….

  13. Ew! Diners are the only places to eat pizza burgers – though I haven’t had one in 20 years!

  14. EdogW says:

I guess we’ll just have to hope this doesn’t catch on in NY.

  19. apaul822 says:

    No way yuk!
doesn’t look good don’t trust them

  20. marshmowllo says:

While I have to agree that this looks disgusting, I can’t help but think it’s also intended for more than one person. (If there are four patties laid out in one layer, it’s probably big enough to split into four slices. Share it among four people. Still unhealthy, but nothing to go into conniptions over.)

Now, if Burger King is marketing this as a single-person serving, than the ire on the page linked from here is understandable. If not, am I out of line to question the accuracy of reviewing a multi-portion food item the same way one would review a single-portion item? After all, pizza and sub sandwiches are analyzed by section/piece/etc.

  21. CrystalSpins says:

    Ummm…Gross. I like pizza, I like burgers…but this…icky!

  22. I say this sparingly, but….GROSS! I could not eat that.

  23. zzyzxbryxx says:

I’m insulted as a burger lover and a pizza lover.

  24. michaeloconnell says:

I like how on the page you’ve linked to there is a window advertising money-saving burger coupons. Oh, delicious irony.

  25. spiritrider says:

    It looks really disgusting!!!!!

  26. It’s a step in the process of Velcro purgatory.

  27. ken says:

There are six pieces so if you share it with 5 other people it should be fine, no?

Personally, I am intrigued and I would like to try it at least once.

  28. Irene says:

I couldn’t finish reading the list, it grossed me out after the third reason!

I don’t eat Burger King to begin with.

I think I’m going to be sick!

  29. thesnackingstudent says:

Ha, what will they think of next!?

  30. Kama says:

I might try it, but I wouldn’t eat it like I do regular burgers.

But, it’s not as bad as it sounds. Because unless you’re fat or can’t control yourself, you don’t eat a whole pizza by yourself. So why would you eat a whole pizza burger which has a mass even bigger than a regular pizza?

And also the whole pizza has 2500 hundred calories, while that’s an extreme amount, it’s the whole pizza, which most likely would be divided by the other people you’re eating it with. One slice each = 2500/6 = around 417 calories each. That’s about one McDonald’s Quarter Pounder (Without Cheese! With Cheese it’ll be 510 calories) The Mcdonald’s Angus burger’s have nearly 800 calories (for one burger, by itself amassing just under a third of the daily caloric intake).

I’m not supporting the pizza, but I’m saying that it isn’t as bad as you’re making it sound.

  31. x1123581321x says:

I think you should do your core business right before you venture out with new ideas. When it comes to Burger King, I have never found their core product (Burgers) to be outstanding or memorable. I eat a few a year, if I am stuck somewhere.

I love a good pizza. This product (abomination?) is not a pizza. This looks like something a collage student put together at 2:30 a.m. after coming home from the local pub. A night of good heavy drinking…. At this state of mind this burpizza would make total sense.

  35. The Perfectly Imperfect One says:

I am ill just looking at it!

  36. Ridiculously disgusting. But awesome? But also disgusting. But awesome.

  37. Ann says:

Ugh, gross! I don’t eat fast food – I try to maintain a fairly healthy lifestyle and I’m selective with what I eat. The last time I ate at BK was almost 20 years ago – every time I had one of their chicken shit things, I ended up doubled over in pain. Not the kind of reaction I’m going for.

  38. educlaytion says:

That is frightening. How can there be so many hungry people in the world when we can do produce things like this!

  39. Virgil says:

Very novel. Much like that KFC “Double Down” I don’t think anyone ever actually ORDERS one, but it’s good for artery-clogging publicity.

Of course, I live in one of the fattest states in the nation, so what do I know?

    • Well I’ve ORDERED one and it was great. There my arteries and I will clog them if i wish. P.S. The “Double Down” has less fat then most burgers.

    • Kama says:

Actually, since the 1970s, our consumption of fat has been reduced by 30% on average, annually. But our intake of sugar has increased. Studies have concluded that sugar is main cause of obesity, not fat. Fat does clog arteries, but it isn’t the main cause anymore. So if you have something to complain against, it’s not fat, it’s sugar. so stop eating as much sugar and your body will thank you.

  48. What is it with the on going push for everybody to be healthy? Has it occurred to anybody that people will eat this because they WANT to? Of course its not good for you. Neither is skydiving but people don’t give you a revolted look when you tell them you’ve done it.

  50. Richard Jones says:

That actually looks pretty good to me..

  51. Linda says:

If you do eat it you should probably be parked outside of an emergency room! Thats just crazy. What kind of plan is that, too kill all of your customers?

  52. PCGuyIV says:

I’m far from concerned about the health reasons listed not to eat this, but isn’t the fact that it simply comes from Burger King sufficient reason to avoid it like the plague?

  53. I don’t think BK should be producing anything with pizza. BK knows how to make hamburgers… They should keep making hamburgers. That would be like a pizza place making chinese food… It’s just not a good combination (in my opinion).

  54. gobstoppers says:

wow, I haven’t seen that one before ! And i can’t say it makes my stomach to rumble !

  55. norcalman says:

Thank you Food Police for pointing this out. Obviously you have figured out that I’m too dumb to eat something like this only on rare occasion and in moderation. If it weren’t for your gallant efforts here, I and the rest of the planet would be facing a early and horrible death at the hands of an evil corporate hell bent on making a profit by providing something that people like.
Sleep well tonight my guilt ridden saviors with the knowledge that you’re perpetual whining has enlightened me to the true virtues of eating cardboard like alternatives such as Kashi cereals. I no longer doubt that I am destined to live a long life mired in the bog of mediocrity and political correctness… and begging for death.

  56. annostic says:

    who eats an entire pizza???

It is cut into 6 pieces proportionately equal to a whopper. So that’s 2500/6= 416.67cal. Which is significantly less then the 660 calories of the current whopper… and also less calories then 89.3% of the half salads available at someplace like California Pizza Kitchen (I didn’t count the whole salads just to be nice 😀 )

So technically this + 4-5 friends would be a healthier choice then a regular whopper, and probably taste better.

  57. cddeluca says:

Oh my god! I thought this was an edited with photoshop. I’m in disbelief that the King of Burgers is going to be selling this. Just when I thought the double grilled cheese hamburger was the nastiest thing I’d ever heard of.

Also, it’s more of a calzone than a pizza.

    Great idea for a blog!

  58. intrepidtraveller says:

Would go down easy after a rough night on the town…and looks good for sharing too!

    Can’t be worse than a big mac…!

  59. It’s not healthy food. Do not eat this ( or very seldom).
I think that today, peaple have to do more exercises (sport) because today we very often use cars, sit near tv and etc.
Let’s move more and eat only health food (try to do it) 😉

  60. Storm says:

I agree with the comments, “I wouldn’t eat it alone.” But…Yeah, I’m not going to lie, I’d try a slice.

I will never, ever try the double decker though, that thing even makes the most hardcore fast-food junkies go, “Now really, that’s unhealthy.” Ack.

  72. i wonder what happened if they posted leaflets at burger king’s, warning “do not read this” – and a snapshot of the ‘about’ page of your blog, underlining how badly written and unscientific your arguments are. of course, NOT providing any other identification means, to avoid sending you more visitors. they could even create a whole section on their menus, dedicated to lousy blogs in general 🙂 so you couldn’t complain you’re the only target.

  73. blackwatertown says:

It even looks rank. Even their own publicity photographs couldn’t make it look appetising.

  74. I do not care what people say about this, or how fattening it is. I’m not a fat person either, but I love food. And I definitely want one of these Pizza Burgers although it doesn’t like it’s as good as it could be, so I’ll wait for the next version of it 😉

  91. I like burgers, I like pizza…not necessarily together!!!

  92. OK, That’s it! Road trip to New York, anyone?
I am sick and tired of being told what to eat and what not to eat. If I want to kill myself with food so be it. I am tired of food and nutrition Nazis telling me what to eat, all because some people do not get it that 2400+ calories shoud not be eaten in one setting. Or that you have to get off your butt to exercise if you do eat that much at one setting. Oh, and I wrote about this on my blog, too, under “You Want Fries With That?”

  93. HavingMeTime says:

yikes, that looks quite unhealthy!!! I hope not too many people eat it.

  94. Penny says:

Just because a great deal of people like hamburgers and pizza is no reason to combine the two. Gross. Just gross.

  95. paperforgood says:

I would never eat a burger pizza. The two just don’t go together IMO. Burger King Burgers can be pretty good, but why would they botch it by adding “pizza” ingredients to it, it actually looks pretty gross.

For those of you that understand this issue on a deeper level (corporate control of the food supply, health, food security, GMO’s) the comments on this thread make it very clear how difficult it is to deal with obesity, health issues and the state of our economy moving to corporations. As we support these companies and their products, we proliferate them. Curious as to how many people speak out about bad food choices and still eat them?

  106. whoaaaaaaa ugh i’m hungry now haha

  107. Wow. Is this a joke? That would go straight to my… bowels.

  108. great blog! veryveryvery important content! people should realy become more responsible about what they eat….. for themselves and for the whole world.

Partially because I just want to see what it’s like. Another reason is to annoy the self-righteous nutters who can’t see that it’s the fault of the consumer if they can’t see why this isn’t healthy.
